Established in 1892, FLTC is a Friendly, sociable, diverse and inclusive tennis club, welcoming players of all abilities and ages. They have a long history and aim to continue the development of their business.
THE CHALLENGE
Fulwood Lawn Tennis Club had outdated floodlights. With the help of Chamber Low Carbon providing a grant they upgraded to LED. The project represents a substantial electricity saving, reducing their carbon footprint through investment in a long term, more cost effective and energy efficient solution, in line with environment strategy.
THE RESULT
Jane Blackwell, Chairman of Fulwood Tennis said, “The process was straight forward, with plenty of support from CLC. They reassuringly always answered any queries promptly and kept me up to date of progress from start to finish. The management committee and members are very pleased with the results. We are grateful to Chamber Low Carbon for all their support with the grant towards our new LED floodlights. The new LED technology provides a more reliable, instant lighting for playing tennis in the evenings and winter months, with minimal light spillage to the surrounding urban area. Due to recent club development, we have increased demand for tennis in the community and the new lighting will enable our vital tennis facility to continue to be sustainable long term and provide the people of Preston and the surrounding area the opportunity to play tennis all year round.”
By being more energy efficient, the lighting project has significantly reduced our electricity bills. Recent improvements to the club have dramatically increased membership numbers and demand from the community – our new lighting can now provide all year round tennis activity for social and competitive play.
ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK
Our Club members and players from the community are delighted with the new floodlights, providing high quality lighting for playing in the evenings and winter months, along with our newly resurfaced tennis courts. The last two years, more than ever, players have appreciated playing tennis and all the physical, social and mental benefits it brings. Whatever the weather or time of year, our members are keen to play and the new lights ensures they can continue!
